Another busy week has seemed to escape us!
We went into the clinic last Wednesday but ended up not getting chemo. Kai was not acting himself all weekend and it seemed to be getting worse each day. He was very sleepy and low energy. He was also whining a lot and waking many times in the night again. I though he was going to need a blood transfusion because last week his counts had dropped a lot. Surprisingly his counts were up this week, which was great news but that meant we were now on the hunt to find out what WAS bothering him!
We did get a quick MRI vent check (to make sure his shunt was working well) and that also came back fine. He did show some electrolyte imbalance which was retested on Friday and by then his level were good. He’s a mystery to us all! He has been a little more alert the past few days so we are trying to just brush it off and hope he just needed a little extra rest. Mark and I both notice he does seem to be a little more shaky and unstable and I have noticed some things with his eyes, but I’m trying not to read to much into it right now.
Thankfully they were able to schedule his vision test this week, so hopefully that will show us something. Better yet it will hopefully show us nothing, NO change, meaning no growth! He also has his 6 month full MRI on December 21, so we will get a better look at that time as well. Again, hopefully we will find NOTHING!
In other happenings:
I was able to make it to the craft bazaar at Mothers & Company on Saturday! It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of great moms & dads and was thoroughly entertained all day by all the great kids! People seemed to like my stuff and we made some good sales. I do have some things left over and I am excited to be able to post them on etsy and reopen the shop for the first time since Kai’s diagnosis. http://www.etsy.com/shop/keikikai check back often as I will be working on posting new things in the next few weeks.
I want to thank everyone who helped me get ready for the show, i couldn’t have done it without all your help! Thanks to Mark for your help in preparing for the show and giving me lots of time to get stuff made. Also, thanks to mom for taking Kai to Casey’s Birthday party while I was at the bazaar. So glad he was able to go and visit with everyone!
Sunday Kai, Mark and I went to the Why Me?/Sherry’s House Holiday Party. It was a grand event, several hundred people, lots of elves, food, cookies, craft activities, music and the REAL Mr & Mrs. Clause! They handed out gifts to all the cancer kids and all of their siblings! Thanks Sherry’s house for another great event!
